I was recently interviewed about a heartbreaking case involving a young girl who was groomed online, coerced into taking an Uber hours away from home, and then sexually assaulted.
Angel Lopez, a 19-year-old from Philadelphia, was arrested for allegedly luring a 13-year-old girl from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, after meeting her on TikTok. Lopez is accused of emotionally manipulating the girl by threatening to take his own life if she did not comply. He arranged for an Uber to bring her to his apartment. Before leaving, she wrote a note to her mother that read, “I promise I’m safe, and please don’t look for me.”
Once she arrived, Lopez reportedly gave the girl a vape pen and then immediately assaulted her. Terrified for her life, she left strands of her hair in his bedroom, hoping they would serve as evidence in case she was never found. Lopez allegedly told her, “They won’t be able to find you anyways.”
Thankfully, she managed to escape after hearing voices outside the apartment. She believed that if he tried to chase her, someone nearby might intervene.
Authorities later located her in Philadelphia. Lopez has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, trafficking, and indecent assault.
